Willie J. Johnson, a.k.a. “Radar”, was born on August 18, 1939 in Osceola, Arkansas. Willie was the oldest of eight children. He was born to the union of James and Alberta Johnson. Both parents preceded him in death.
Willie was baptized at an early age at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life he became a faithful member of House of Prayer, where Willie served on the Usher Board under the leadership of Pastor Summers.
Willie was united in Holy Matrimony to his loving wife, Julia Johnson in 1965. To this union two children were born Voice and Eric. One daughter, Jackie, was born from a previous marriage. She also preceded him in death.
Willie's passion was Martial Arts which he started at the age of 14 years old. Most importantly Willie loved spending time with his Wife and Grandchildren. Willie also loved attending Church Conferences.
Willie attended Richard T. Crane High School. He then furthered his education at Malcolm X College, formally known as Crane Junior College, where he earned his degree. Willie served in the U.S. Air Force, until he was honorably discharged in 1960. He then worked at the Board of Education and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department until 1995.
Willie departed this life on March 6, 2025. Although we will no longer see Willie with our eyes, he will forever remain in our hearts.
Willie is preceded in death by: Four brothers, Johnny, Eddie, Nelson and Albert; and two sisters,
Louella and Edna.
He leaves to cherish: His loving wife, Julia Johnson; two sons, Voice White-Johnson and Eric (Dee-Dee); one sister, Josephine Kilpatrick; brother, Amos (Victoria); seven grandchildren, Paris (Keisha), Eric Julian, Rakeem a.k.a. “Rocky”, Monique (Josh), Eric Jr. and Kendyl; six great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jade, Davion, Joselyn, Donovan and Dorian; a special sister-in-law, Susie Barlowe; and a host of family and friends.
