Venus Jean Williams was born on November 21, 1959 to the late Loretta and James Williams, in Chicago, IL. Venus was their only child.
Venus dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago, where she was a former member of the choir.
Venus’ childhood was surrounded by both of her parents families, the Thomas and Williams families. Being their only child, she was always with plenty of family members. Her life was based on a strong relationship with her family. Being family oriented was a core part of Venus, family always held a special place in her heart.
Venus attended school at Mulligan Elementary and graduated from Harlan High School. After graduating, Venus attended college at the University of Illinois. Venus was a fun, loving, generous person and loved helping others. Her passion for caring and helping people lead her to a career in nursing, following family members on both sides, like her grandmother, mom, aunts and uncles. Caring for others was her second nature.
For many years Venus worked in the healthcare field. During this time, she met and worked with Pam and Octavia who became very special friends in her life. She called them her “College Buddies.” Venus was very dedicated to her career and worked all her life, right up until retiring two months ago. Venus was determined to provide great service to her clients, who all loved and appreciated her. Her patients were grateful for her care and expertise.
Venus was always the life of the party and enjoyed being around family and friends. She tried to attend every family function and event. She loved to dance, laugh and drink her Natural Ice. If it was a holiday, she would reach out and send her well wishes to everyone as a way to keep in touch.
Venus became a mom to two children, Damario and Veinetta. Unfortunately, her daughter passed away and she dedicated her life to her son. Damario became her world, along with her mother, Loretta. The three of them were inseparable.
As Venus’ health started to decline, she would enjoy Sunday Service with her cousin Melvin. Her main priority before she passed was to take care of her son. She was very independent and a very good mom.
Venus departed this life on May 6, 2026. She is preceded in death by: Her parents, Loretta and James Williams; and her daughter, Veinetta Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her son, Damario Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
