Shauntae Dantrice McKnight, also known as “Shay”, was born on February 4, 1995 in Chicago, Illinois to Barbara McKnight and Sean Loggins. She was called home on February 26, 2026. She is preceded in death by: Three loving grandparents, Roosevelt and Anese McKnight, and Alberta Loggins; and three uncles, Ray, June and Albert (Pook).
Shauntae attended John Calhoun North Elementary School and participated in the After School Program at Marillac House. Shay furthered her education at Richard T. Crane High School.
Shay confessed her love for Christ at an early age and would attend church with her grandmother, Mrs. Honey, at the New Greater Exodus M.B.C., under the leadership of the late Reverend Eward Whitehead.
Shay had a great love for music, arts and crafts, and she loved the color purple. She also loved knitting and sewing. In fact, these were two of her greatest hobbies.
Later in life, Shay was inspired by her cousin, Anese (“Punkin”) to begin her own small business. She created homemade soaps, along with her daughter, Armani. Most of all, Shay took extreme pride and great joy in being a mother!
Shauntae leaves to cherish her precious memories: Her mother, Barbara McKnight; father, Sean Loggins; her daughter, Armani S. McKnight; her son, Amiri McKnight; two sisters, Ebony Jackson of Arizona and Seanice Loggins of Tennessee; five brothers, Brandon McKnight, Damien Holmes, Delion Brown, Sean Loggins and Shawn Harvey, all of Chicago, IL; one loving aunt, Gloria “Jean” McKnight; four uncles, Leon Davis (Elaine), Leroy (Wendy) Davis, Tyran Loggin, all of Chicago, IL and Anthony McKnight of Kansas City; one great-aunt, Roberta Thornton of Chicago, IL; Godparents, Albert and Vivian Finch of Collins, MS; and a host of cousins and friends.
Though Shauntae’s time here feels far too short, her legacy of love will continue to impact countless lives. Shauntae will be deeply missed, always remembered and forever loved!
