Curtis Leroy Rhoden-Benson was born October 10, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois on the west side of Chicago to Lena and Bernard Benson.
Curtis’ religious journey started early as a child, where he attended Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Later in his life, he went on to join New Morning Star Baptist Church.
Curtis went to school in Chicago, Illinois where he graduated and earned his High School diploma from George Westinghouse Vocational High School, in the year 1976.
Curtis always worked. Curtis was employed at several places including at a bakery, The United States Postal Service (where he was the neighborhood mailman) and lastly, Chicago Transit Authority.
Curtis made his transition on February 3, 2026.
Curtis is preceded in death by: His mother and father, Lena & Bernard Benson; his son, Darius Joyner; his three brothers, Reginald “Big Wee”, Vernon “Frog” and Bernard Jr. “Tank”; one sister, Bernadette “Bern”; and two nephews, Quentin and Renado.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memories: His three daughters, Tukieda (Jalal), Tamarah and Courtney; three sons, Prince (Karen), Lil Curtis and Christopher (Shaquita); one bonus daughter, Ashley; fifteen grandchildren, Keyonna, Tyra, Jeremy, Armani, MaKayla, Jomarion, Darion, Antonio, Kayden, Prince Jr., Joey, Maon, Tahiry, Arionne and Nyla; two great grandkids, Nazir and Amere; two sisters, Felicia and Bertee; two brothers, Derrick and Tommy (Sonda); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved and cherished him deeply.
