Miss. Marsie Clark

December 6, 1925 — March 27, 2025

Miss. Marsie Clark

Marsie B. Clark was born on December 6, 1925 in Tillitoba, Mississippi to the late Alex and Della Turner. Her siblings; Lennie Watson, Arilla Browley, Ellen Williams, Rachel Turner, Jessie Turner, James Turner, Hubert DuBois, Andrew Townes and Peyton Turner all preceded Marsie in their earthly transitions.

Marsie was married to Clinton Clark in 1943. To this union, one son, Roscoe, was born. Marsie and her husband migrated from the South to the North for the opportunity to find gainful employment. Once that was accomplished, Marsie’s priority was to find a church home. She became a member of New True Vine Missionary Baptist Church shortly after arriving in Chicago in the 1940’s and has remained an active member until her health began to fail her.

We all fondly called Marsie, “Aunt Beedie.” Throughout the years not only was she considered an “Aunt,” she also became a mother figure to a lot of those who lost their mothers early in their lives.

Aunt Beedie was a special matriarch in the family. For several decades after retirement, Aunt Beedie became the family’s trusted and caring babysitter. The children she cared for were safe, nurtured and well-fed. They grew up eating cream of wheat and sausages for breakfast and her notorious black-eyed peas and turkey necks for dinner all while learning how to love and care for family. Aunt Beedie was a nurturer for the mind, body, and spirit. She cooked, cleaned, read her Bible daily and shared her love of Christ with the children she kept.

On Thursday, March 27, 2025 at approximately 11:15 p.m., God called and Marsie answered. Marsie leaves to cherish her memories: One loving daughter, Ora Fair of Memphis, TN; five grandsons, Arki Clark, Rasheilk Clark, Leandrew Williams, Ricky Williams of Chicago, IL and Samuel Williams Jr. (formerly of Chicago, IL); one granddaughter, Lucretia Williams of Chicago, IL; one loving bonus daughter, Virgie Lockhart of Chicago, IL; twenty-six great grandchildren, five greatgreat grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
