Thank you for being here today to honor and celebrate the life of our beloved mother Linda
Nell Mack.
Our mother was born in Chicago, Illinois, at Cook County Hospital, to Julius Bonner and Sarah Nell Young. From the very beginning, she carried with her a strength, resilience, and quiet grace that touched everyone she met. She is a graduate of Waller High School and served as an emergency room ward clerk with St. Annes Hospital for 25 years and also as an administrative assistant with EGS for over 10 years. In her later years she was known to not be able to sit down. She would say, “I am older, not dead!” so she took a bagging position at Mariano's grocery store for one year.
Though the story of her life began in Chicago, its impact reached far beyond. She was a daughter, a mother, a friend, a guiding light - someone whose love shaped the very core of who we are and many others whom she adopted into her heart. She taught us, not just with her words but with her life, what it meant to be kind, faithful, and strong in the face of adversity. Her and her faithful and loving husband Adison Mack Jr. of 52 years raised a strong legacy, built with integrity, purpose and discipline.
My mother had a quiet wisdom that came not from books, but from living. She knew how to make a house feel like home. Her laughter was comforting, her presence grounding. She didn’t always speak much, but when she did, her words stayed with you. She saw people - their goodness, their struggles, their potential - and she loved without condition. She was a disciple of Jesus Christ and filled with His precious Holy Spirit.
As we say an unexpected goodbye today, we hold close not only the memories we shared but the lessons she left with us. She taught us how to keep going when life gets hard. How to love deeply. How to give without expecting anything in return and that there was no one in the world quite like us, with her phrase that rings in our ears, “Remember everybody ain’t like you!”.
Though she is no longer with us in body, we know she lives on - in every act of kindness we carry forward, in every bit of strength we summon on difficult days, in every warm memory that reminds us of the way she loved.
She is preceded in death by: Her mother, Sarah Nell Bonner; father, Julius Bonner; grandmother, Allie Beatrice Young; uncle, Frank Young; and brother, David Bonner.
She leaves a cherished legacy that includes: A loving husband, Adison Mack; a loving sister and brother, Patricia Hall and Craig Bonner; and children, Angela McCree, Nicholas Mack, Marcus Mack and Jason Mack. Other beloved children include Shirley Mack, Sharon Ringer, Gerald Sanders and Roosevelt Hicks. She also has beautiful grandchildren, Jewelesa Brooks, Bria Maxey, Chyanne Maxey, Cantrell Mack, Madison Jean-Pierre, Makayla Mack and great-grandchildren Harper Maxey, Celena Brooks, Skye Brooks, Heiress Brooks, Hazel Rivers and Harmony Rivers.
Thank you, Mom - for your love, your sacrifices, your prayers, and your unwavering faith in me. I miss you deeply, but I know you are at peace. We love you. We honor you. And we will never forget you.
