Kenneth Earl Davis Sr.

June 17, 2024 — November 24, 2025

Kenneth Earl Davis Sr. was born to Gertrude Davis and Prentiss Wheeler on June 17, 1964, in Grace, Mississippi. Kenneth was the eldest of ten children.

Kenneth, although never making a public declaration of baptism, was fond of the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses - often mentioning that he wanted to have a Bible study later in life. He attended Crane High School and graduated in 1982. Following graduation from High School, he attended Tennessee State, where he received a bachelor’s in respiratory therapy. In 1986, he joined the Army Reserves, which allowed him to maintain his civilian status while he continued his schooling. During his time in college, he participated in the band. His love of music continued throughout his life.

He met the love of his life, Lanette Davis, in high school but it was not until May 15, 1990, that they sealed their love forever and got married. Together, they had eight children whom they loved dearly: Renell Taylor, Cherish Wallace, Kenneth Davis Jr., Aaliyah Hubbard, Mark Moore, Ashanti Davis, Kiana Hackett, and Prentiss Davis.

Kenneth was stationed as close to home as Kansas and as far as Germany. During 1991, he was sent to the Middle East to serve in the Gulf War. He served his country loyally until he was honorably discharged in 1993, upon which he returned home to his family.

Kenneth’s love for music started young and continued up until his later years. Everywhere he went, he had music playing as if no one was around. It was his passion and brought him so much joy. He was a kind soul and spoke to anyone who was willing to listen. He never met a stranger that never liked him. His joyous smile and contagious outgoing personality will be missed.

He is preceded in death by: His father, Prentiss Wheeler; his younger brothers, Mark Davis, Calvin (Romanette) Davis; his nephews, Anthony Collins and Shawn Blakemore.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: His loving wife, Lanette Davis; their children, Renell (Eiliana) Taylor (along with Renell’s mother, Eddie B. and sister, Janay Daniels), Cherish Wallace, Kenneth Davis Jr., Aaliyah Hubbard, Mark Moore, Ashanti Davis, Kiana Hackett, and Prentiss Davis; his eight grandchildren, Maya, Kenneth III, Adam and Eve Davis, Torian Peters, Jayden Taylor, Amari Harris, and Gigi Pazo; his seven remaining siblings, Michael Davis, Brenda (Jerome) Coppage, Stephanie Davis, Sharon (Fannie) Davis, Ronald Davis, Tamesa (Chris) Hackett, Brian (Sarada) Davis; and his God sister, Linda Collins. He was a father, uncle, and a friend to even more that isn’t listed here. We will keep him and his memories alive in our hearts.
