Ms. Katanya Kayenatha Bulter

Katanya Butler was born into life on April 12, 1982 in Chicago, IL. She was born to Sandra Butler and Andre Aponte at Mary Hospital, a 5lb, 6oz beautiful baby girl. Katanya was a big sister to Lil John and Lil Chris, and an auntie to Jayla and Jaylin. 

Katanya was baptized at Alpha and Omega Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member. 

Katanya attended Cameron Elementary School, and later attended Orr High School. She was very talented. 

Katanya’s health prevented her working, but it never stopped her from dreaming. She always loved her family, her family meant the world to Katanya. 

Katanya was born into eternity on August 14, 2025 at 6:00 a.m. She will truly be missed. 

She is preceded in death by: Her grandparents, Shirley Butler and Sammy Butler; two favorite uncles, L.A. Jefferson and Lee Martin “Uncle Jr.”; and her little brother, Marcus “Big Blue” Washington. 

She leaves to cherish her memories: Her mother, Sandra Butler; brothers, Johnnell Logan and Chris Hawkins; niece and nephew, Jaylin and Jayla; uncles, Dana, Derek, Alan and Eddie; aunts, Diane, Debbie, Sherri and Laverne; grandmothers, Teresa and Serita; and a host of family and friends
