Jerry L Lewis was born April 16,1958 on the Westside of Chicago. He was called home March 24, 2026.
Jerry attended Orr High School and UIC, where he studied Architecture. Also, Jerry played several instruments in the band, and in sports he dominated his peers in baseball, football, wrestling and tennis.
Jerry accepted Christ at an early age. Jerry was an overachiever. He wore many hats and worked numerous jobs (Porter Equipment, Ace Hardware, Crate and Barrel, United Armor, Pacific Construction and Kelli’s Electric to name a few) before branching off into his own business, JLL Construction.
Jerry was a forward-thinking leader. He had many visionary, innovative ideas; from creating a special basketball backboard for Porter Equipment in the early 80’s, to currently heading training programs for the 1901 Project at the United Center. His favorite quote was: You can’t stop greatness.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Mae Ruth Lewis and Robert Tucker Lewis. He is also preceded in death by siblings, Darlene Joseph, Arthur Lewis, and Bennie Lee Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Zandra Lewis; son, Zach Lewi; brother, Glenn Lewis (Yvette); brother-in-law, Gary Easley; sister-in-law, Shae Weed-Lewis; and eight grandchildren, Zachary Lewis Jr., Zaiden Lewis, Za’Kary Lewis, Namir Lewis, Zoey Lewis, Kash Cobb, Zola Lewis, and Zermias Lewis. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Jerry leaves a legacy of touching hearts and families across the globe. He leaves a legacy of not only developing structures but also developing people.
