Gregory Strowder

Gregory Strowder was born into life on March 12, 1963 in Mississippi to Bernice Strowder. He grew up in Mississippi where he received his education in the public school system. 

As an adult, Gregory made his way to Chicago, where he met and married Debra Powell. Through this union, his two sons were born, Jeremy and Gregory II. Although the marriage ended, Gregory and Debra remained good friends. 

Gregory worked at Resurrection Hospital as a security officer. He started on November 22, 2000, and remained with the hospital for 25 years, until he retired on August 25, 2025. 

Gregory was a true gamer. From old school Atari to the newest Playstation and Xbox, he loved to play. He enjoyed all sorts of video games, but his favorites were fighting and shooting games, such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tekken. 

Gregory departed this life on May 9, 2026. 

He is preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Strowder. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: His former wife, Debra Powell; his two sons, Jeremy Powell and Gregory Strowder II; two sisters, Joyce Powell and Stephanie Powell; one brother, Bernard Strowder; his favorite cousin James Lacey; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
