Eron Rice

Eron Rice was born on November 2, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the third child of five born to Margaret Rice.

Eron is preceded in death by: His mother; his brothers, Kevin and Arnold; and his grandparents, Alex and Dora Rice.

Eron attended Willa Cather Grade School and graduated in 1974. He later attended John Marshall High School.

Eron enjoyed sports when he was younger: swimming, basketball and roller skating were among his favorites. He participated in them until he was 18 years of age, when he sustained an injury to his lumbar spine which left him paralyzed from the waist down.

Eron’s life was dramatically changed. He had to adjust to living in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He endured his condition with great fortitude, taking on all the complications that can come with it, and he never complained.

Two days before his 65th birthday Eron became seriously ill. He passed away on November 4, 2025.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His siblings, Claudette and Kim; six nieces, Rachel, Natasha, Loreal, Dorian, Brianna and Tia; two nephews, Shaun and Devin; and a host of family and friends.
