Ernest, affectionately known as “Boo,” was born on September 16, 1978, in Peoria, Illinois, to Helen King, who preceded him in death. After his mother’s passing at a young age, Ernest and his siblings moved to Chicago, where he was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Mary Faulkner. Mary was more than a guardian; she was his guiding light, his source of strength, and his biggest supporter. Ernest also shared his home with his cousin, Semetris, who was also adopted by his grandmother. Mary, Semetris, and his brother Taytay all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Latonya.
Ernest attended Austin High School. He was full of life and had a deep love for music, especially recording and creating. He was highly intelligent and enjoyed engaging in meaningful conversations, often sharing his knowledge with others. He loved debate, was funny, and never shied away from expressing his opinions. A devoted Chicago sports fan, Ernest was a self-curer, often experimenting and doing extensive research to understand the human body and how we can heal ourselves and change the world.
Ernest worked various jobs throughout his life, including construction, mechanic work, caregiving, and security. Passionate about change and unity, he was loud-spoken about politics, environmental health, and the wellbeing of people. He cared deeply about the bigger picture in life, the next generation, and all those around him. Ernest also had a love for philosophy, astrology, his family, and his cars.
Ernest departed this life on March 23, 2026.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two children, Breena King and Montez King; his beloved grandchildren, Cameron and Aiden; his sister, Latonya; his nieces and nephews, Helena, Daniel, Kyle, Sarah, Nalej, and Wisdom; along with a host of cousins and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
