Her Story
Donnie was born on July 21, 1937, in Calhoun City, Mississippi to Tommy and Dony Pryor, who both preceded her in death. She embraced her faith early in life as a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Calhoun City, Mississippi.
In 1955, Donnie met and married Lafayette Greenlee in Eupora, Mississippi, who preceded her in death. In 1956, together they relocated and began a new chapter in Chicago, Illinois. Donnie was a devoted and loving mother of five, guiding her children with strength, compassion, and a deep belief in respect and discipline.
Life Filled with Joy
Donnie had a natural gift for humor and kept her family and friends laughing. Her unforgettable sayings-especially “I’ve been thrown out of better places than this”-perfectly captured her spirited personality and ability to bring light into any room. Her hands were blessed with creativity. As a gifted decorator, Donnie transformed her home with beauty and imagination. She had an artistic eye that saw potential where others saw none.
Her Work and Dedication
Throughout her adult life, Donnie worked with pride and commitment. She spent many years at Alden’s Mail Order Company processing order returns, and later served the students at Marshall High School as a lunchroom attendant until her retirement.
Her Legacy
On March 17, 2026, Donnie peacefully transitioned from this life. She is reunited with; Her parents, Tommy, and Dony Pryor; her brothers, Robert, Joe, and James; her sisters, Blancie and Lillian; and her beloved son, Timothy, Sr. all of whom have preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Four children, Ora, Levi (Taryn), Patricia (David), and Derrick; one daughter-in-law, Annette; one sister, Mae; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a devoted caregiver, Mary; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Donnie’s legacy of love, laughter, strength, and creativity lives on in every life she touched. Her presence will be deeply missed
