Bobbie “Bobbie Jean” Lindsey-McCord was born April 24, 1940 in Canton, MI. She was the
eleventh child out of fourteen siblings born to the late Roosevelt Sr. and Annie Brown.
Born in a devout Christian home, she accepted Christ at an early age and joined Middleton
Grove A.M.E. Zion Church. She later joined Greater Walter A.M.E. Zion Church in Chicago,
IL, under the leadership of George W.C. Walker Jr. She also served as a member on the
Steward Board.
Bobbie Jean attended Milton Grove School and then migrated with her siblings to Chicago.
Bobbie Jean worked at Community HealthCare for fifteen years as a nurse’s aid.
In 1979, Bobbie met her soul mate Willie F. McCord, who preceded her in death. She was a
devoted wife, a loving mother, and the proudest grandmother. Bobbie Jean loved cooking,
conquering crossword puzzles and most importantly, she enjoyed reading the Word each and
every morning. Her favorite quote was “Feed the hungry, clothe the naked and shelter the
lost.”
She leaves to cherish her memory: Her sons, Howell (Priscilla), Lester who preceded her in
death; and stepson, Andre (Geneva) of Montgomery, AL; two daughters, Dorathea and
Wanda (Keith) and step-daughter, Annette of Montgomery, AL; nine grandchildren, Howell
Brown Jr., Jason, Chiquita, Shana (Kenneth), Jasmine, Chante, Adrianne, Justin and Keith
Jr.; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary; two brothers, James (Beverly) and
Lynell (Pamela) of Canton, MI; a host of nephews and nieces; and two special ladies, Goddaughter, Janice Williams and bonus daughter, Annette Webb.
